Your Role & Impact
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide dedicated 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people (aged 5-18) with autism, learning disabilities, and other complex needs. Your work will take place in family homes and community settings, where you will:
- Build positive, trusting relationships.
- Enable engagement in meaningful activities and community access.
- Implement individual care plans and positive behaviour support strategies.
- Ensure dignity, safety, and well-being at all times.
Who We Are Looking For
We seek compassionate, resilient individuals who are motivated by genuine care for others.
Essential Requirements:
- Eligibility for an enhanced DBS check.
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training for Children & Vulnerable Adults.
- Proven experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, or complex behavioural needs.
- A full driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable.
Highly Desirable Skills (Full training provided):
- Moving & Handling, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), PROACT-SCIPr-UK.
- Epilepsy Awareness & Buccal Midazolam Administration.
- Emergency First Aid, and communication methods (Makaton, PECS, Intensive Interaction).
- A relevant NVQ/QCF Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care.
