About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and entrepreneurial Business Development & Partnerships Manager to lead income generation and partnership development for our client.

This is a key role at the heart of their growth plans. You will identify and develop new opportunities, build strong external relationships, and secure income through a mix of earned income, partnerships, and project-based fundraising.

You will work across a diverse income portfolio, including hall hire and space rental, partnership development, and fundraising for programmes such as youth club provision, after-school clubs, early years services, and services for older people.

Reporting to: Director (or Deputy Director in their absence)
Responsible for: Facilities Administrator and working collaboratively with other project managers

Key Responsibilities

Income Generation & Business Development:

  • Develop and deliver a business development approach to increase earned and contributed income
  • Proactively identify, develop, and secure new income opportunities, including partnerships, grants, and commissioned work
  • Build and manage a strong income pipeline, driving opportunities from initial engagement through to secured funding
  • Grow and maximise hall hire and space rental income, including identifying new markets and users
  • Lead on collaborative bid writing with partners for local and national funding opportunities
  • Work with colleagues to promote hall hire and services, supporting increased occupancy and income
  • Contribute to targeted marketing approaches to attract partners, funders, and venue users
  • Contribute to income forecasting, pipeline tracking, and reporting

Partnerships & External Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community organisations, funders, and corporate partners
  • Act as a confident external representative for the organisation
  • Develop strategic partnerships that generate both income and community impact
  • Actively network to identify and progress new collaborative opportunities

Project-Based Fundraising:

  • Lead and support fundraising for key programmes including youth club provision, after-school clubs, early years services, and services for older people
  • Develop compelling proposals and cases for support in collaboration with internal teams
  • Research and pursue relevant grant, trust, and partnership opportunities
  • Support or lead on reporting to funders and partners, ensuring requirements are met and relationships are maintained
  • Work with delivery teams to gather data, outcomes, and impact evidence to support applications and reporting

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track income performance against targets and provide regular updates to senior leadership
  • Maintain accurate records of partnerships, bids, and income pipelines
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of business development activity and identify areas for growth

About You

You are a proactive and outward-facing professional who is confident building relationships, spotting opportunities, and turning them into income.

You are comfortable working across a mix of earned income, partnerships, and fundraising, and are motivated by achieving results and making a tangible difference in the community.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, income generation, or partnerships
  • Track record of proactively securing income through partnerships, grants, or commercial activity
  • Experience of developing and managing an income pipeline
  • Experience of bid writing and/or fundraising with demonstrable results
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills
  • Ability to take initiative and drive opportunities through to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working in a community, youth, or social impact organisation
  • Knowledge of local authority funding or commissioning processes
  • Experience of growing earned income streams (e.g., venue hire)

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £42,000 – £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)
